Reflexology
Reflexology is a gentle, accessible & deeply relaxing hands-on therapy that involves the application of gentle pressure to different reflex areas on the feet & hands in order to support the body’s own healing and revitalising processes.
The feet are a mirror image of the body itself. Within the feet are areas for all the body’s systems and organs and with precise thumb and finger movements these are accessed in order to promote and aid the body’s own healing system.
The roots of reflexology are ancient – there are several indicators of early forms of health foot care throughout the world, the most chronicled being a pictograph in Egypt in the tomb of Ankmahor at Sappara, thought to date to around 2500 BC.
At Vale Wellness, we use a clinical technique called Duopody, which works both feet at the same time.
A Clinical Reflexologist tailors the Reflexology treatment to the very specific needs of each client. For individuals with health issues, a personal plan of treatments will be devised. Individuals in good health benefit from the deep relaxation experienced during treatment. A clinical reflexologist cannot claim to diagnose or cure any illness and reflexology should never be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. It is a noninvasive, complementary therapy.
Prior to your first treatment, a detailed medical history is taken. Our Clinical Reflexologist with work across both feet and note any reflex or reflected imbalances detected.
Based upon these findings, together with the completed consultation questionnaire, a personal treatment plan will be devised for future treatments. The only requirement for reflexology is that shoes and socks are removed. Don’t worry about being ticklish, our clients with ticklish feet tell me that reflexology isn’t ticklish at all! You then sit back and relax.
During the treatment, you are seated on a comfortable, fully adjustable treatment couch. Many clients close their eyes and relax, some prefer to chat, some fall asleep. It’s your treatment and you decide what’s best for you.

Reflexology is a touch therapy – various reflex points on the feet, hands or face are massaged. Alongside a healthy lifestyle and required medical treatments, it is a wonderful additional tool for helping you to maintain, support and enhance a healthy state. The relaxation responses elicited via Reflexology are a recognised method of calming and thereby balancing the body.
As a Clinical Reflexologist, Siwan tailors the reflexology treatment and range of techniques used according to the specific holistic needs of the client.
